Need some date night ideas while you are at home? Keep that spark alive with some fun ideas that you can do at the house (after the kids are asleep, of course, or even if they are playing in their rooms). My favorites include outdoor picnic on the patio, hum that tune, and blind taste test.
Below are some favorites!
- Game Night
- Gin Rummy – all you need is a full deck of cards – Gin Rummy Rules
- Would You Rather – Check HERE questions.
- Newly Wed Game – Check HERE for the questions
- Play Nine – The card game of golf
- Pull out your other board games that are collecting dust in a closet
- Video Games
- What a great time to bust out the video games and compete one on one. Find out once and for all who really has the best skills! Mario Kart has always been my favorite
- Book Club for Two (or ask other friends to join!)
- Choose a book you both have been wanting to read. Set a date each week and discuss!
- Dream Together
- Shop online for your ultimate dream house! I love this game.
- Talk about where you’d like to be in the next 5, 10, 15 years in your relationship, with the kids, with finances, in your careers, etc.
- Save and plan your next vacation
- Movie
- Pick a theme, an actor/actress, a series that you have been dying to watch!
- Rewatch the first movie y’all saw together when dating
- Watch each others #1 favorite movie
- Music:
- YouTube karaoke. Yes that is actually a thing!!! Search karaoke on YouTube and you will find tons of karaoke versions of songs.
- Dating Playlist: Work together to make a playlist of songs from when you first met
- Hum that tune. Then try to guess which song that person is singing.
- Food
- Have a tasting party: Your options are many: cheese, wine, beer, chocolate. Choose a few and compare notes later in the week. You could event skype other couples to have a double date.
- Blind taste test: Each of you collect 5 different treats without the other person seeing them then have them try it. Switch after that. Think about: dips, pickles, cream cheese, cool whip, etc.
- Outdoors
- Picnic on your front or back patio or on a blanket in the grass.
- Roast S’Mores over a grill or fire
- Take a walk through the neighborhood and get off the beaten path
- Create flower art like this one below. The gist is to walk around finding leaves, flowers, etc and creating a face with it. This particular image is from Instagram account @Miavill.
- Spa Date
- Face masks, bath bombs, foot massages, back rubs, comfy robes.
- Wine and Paint Night
- Grab some paint, a cheap canvas (or printer paper!) and decide on a design (there are tons of painting tutorials on YouTube)… then get creative!
- Ultimate Bucket List
- Sit down together, then create your ultimate bucket list. Write down things that you would love to do together! (time, money, and logistics are no object!)
- Write Out Your Love Story
- This is something couples often forget to talk about. Spark those initial emotions and stories from when you first met. Can each of you agree on the details?BONUS: Not only will you cherish it, but think about how much your kids will appreciate being able to go back and read it with you years down the road!
There you have it! Sometimes purposeful connection is hard to come by with busy lives, I hope some of these out of the box ideas gets you and yours energized during this time!
